Ibiza Wedding?

Planning to have an Ibiza Wedding?    I suppose the big questions must be:

‘Why marry on Ibiza?’

‘How do I organise that?’

‘How much will it cost?’

I suppose my first suggestion is ‘Do the very best you can’.  I do that with my ceremonies and it is immensely rewarding.  Your wedding on Ibiza will without question be a lifetime memory.  Do your very best, and Ibiza will yield in abundance.

The answer to ‘Why?’ must be that you have a dream or vision of that most precious when you both make the most sincere vows and promises to each other.

A beautiful venue with glorious sunshine and sky is one reason why, but beyond that, the island is as everyone who visits will tell you, just a very very special place.  Not for nothing is it called the ‘Magic While Island’.  And as some people can have an incredible effect on you (you’re marrying one!) so too does Ibiza.

People say that Ibiza either embraces and loves you, or it simply throws you back to wherever.  You cannot change Ibiza – Ibiza can change you!

Of course, the ‘legal bit’ of marriage here is not easy, sometimes impossible.  It’s almost as if the island knows that the legal bit is only a man-made contract, and that true marriages are made and held in the heart.  Since man and woman first loved each other, there has been marriage.  Ibiza has never gone back on that principle.

The ‘How?’  is a short simple question, but with many answers.  If money is not a restricting consideration, then a wedding planner makes life easy. Like most things in life, they vary.  It would be invidious to name specific wedding planners, as it might imply disapproval of others.

A few points to consider however.  Your planner’s purpose is to plan and organise for you, your most wonderful day without glitches, incorporating all the components that suit you best.

Some planners charge a fee, which may sound expensive, but obviously everyone has to be paid.  Some planners provide a ‘free’ service, which naturally you pay for by way of a commission to the planner from all the suppliers, or sometimes with in-house planners a ‘top loading’ on the suppliers price which you never know. Again, everyone has to be paid.   Some planners take both.

Remember always that YOU are paying, and YOU are entitled to choose and specify what you would like.

Best is not the same for everyone, so if a planner does not offer you choices, maybe they are not doing their very best for you.  Most hotels and many restaurants for example will offer packages that have ‘preferred’ suppliers, just as we all have our favourite cafes/bars/shops, but if offered ‘take it or leave it’ no matter how seductively packaged, you are not enjoying a choice.  All-inclusive weddings are like all-inclusive holidays – easy, but not everyone’s cup of tea.

With a little confidence in these internet days you can successfully plan your own Ibiza wedding from home.  It takes a little effort and organisation, but it’s not rocket science.  All the suppliers of wedding services will happily work for you direct, and so the biggest problem is choosing.  If you’re planning well in advance, after your initial research I suggest you take a ‘cheapie’ flight for a (long) weekend out of main season.  View all your options, consider how you’re treated and then decide.  All the good suppliers are successful, and regularly work together as a team.  They appreciate each other and they understand that if the day goes well it reflects back on them and they get more business. (I most certainly do!)

For do-it-yourself planning there are several sites which provide a forum for wedding services.  ibiza-weddings-spain.com is one, and ibiza-directory.com is another.  There are others of course, and there’s always ‘Google’!

The final question of ‘How much?’  is the hardest.  The glib answer is ‘How deep in your pocket?’.  It’s about the best answer I can give, and takes me back to the beginning with ‘Do the very best you can’

I have conducted ceremonies at some the very top hotels on Ibiza (which is top, you may ask) with almost 200 guests and an unbelievable budget; I’ve also conducted a ceremony on a deserted beach at sunset for only a couple, away on a week’s low-cost all-inclusive holiday at end of season.  Both weddings were magical!  The key factor was that both couples loved each other absolutely!  Totally, absolutely, and forever!  Both couples cried with happiness; the budgets big and small clearly unimportant.

Ibiza loved them……

Bless you all
